That little bit of help
Age Concern Central Lancashire provide a range of services to support people from the age of 55 to stay independent, keep motivated, and regain confidence in order to remain in their own home.
Age Concern Central Lancashire is seen as a well-established provider of support services, meeting the needs of local older people. These services are aimed at people, who without that little bit of help are at risk of losing their independence, and who have limited or no other supportive assistance or who are carers.
All our services are confidential and delivered using paid and voluntary staff that have CRB clearance and are fully trained within their area of work.
The services are funded through a number of sources such as:
- Lancashire County Council, Primary Care Trust, Big Lottery
- Fundraising by the organisation
- Charging individuals for services at a subsidised rate
Services to Promote Independence, a wide range of services including:
- Short term support on discharge from medical treatments, offering encouragement, promoting independence and ensuring re-enablement
- Longer term support to remain independent at home
- Foot care (simple toe nail cutting)
- Supported Shopping
- Health and Safety Advice on living at home
- Community Links (befriending and re-engagement in community life, including LGBT outreach)
- Supporting carers to access healthcare
- Community Support and Information - welfare benefit checks and support in making claims, practical, financial and emotional support, including home visit
- Home Help Service – practical help around the home including housework, shopping, laundry
- LGBT Support, Senior Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender Befriending and Support Service
- Community Equipment, a Lancashire County Council (LCC) approved retailer of community equipment.
Day and Outreach Support for those with memory concerns:
- Enhanced Day Support and Carer Respite for those living at home with dementia/ Alzheimer’s or significant physical frailty
- Caring Cafes, information and awareness for older people with dementia and their carers
- Outreach support to those in early stages of dementia/ Alzheimer’s
- Information, advice and support to access community services within the districts of Preston and South Ribble (age group 18+)
