Keeping You Independent
Age Concern Central Lancashire delivers a number of services which promote independent living, enables access to information and advice, leisure an educational activities to people 55 or over, their carers, family and friends.
This range of services is provided to meet the needs of people with lower level needs and some services are available to those who are physically active and living independently. Most services are free at the point of access, however some require a contribution from the user for the costs e.g. a charged-for Home Help service.
The core purpose of these service are to focus on rehabilitation, re-enablement and avoidance of unnecessary hospital admissions, enablement for the individual, the reduction of social isolation, the maintenance of skills, making informed choices and having the confidence to take control, whilst maintaining independent living and promoting quality of life whenever possible.
Age Concern Central Lancashire has been providing quality services for over twenty years to support older people to live a meaningful life. Some of these services include:
- Home Support and Enabling, offering short term practical and emotional support to people who have had medical treatment that has left them temporarily incapacitated
- Supported Shopping, offering short term a crisis, assisted or internet shopping facility
- Community Links Scheme, a befriending scheme for those who are lonely or isolated
- Community Support and Information, offering free, confidential and independent guidance to individuals and their carers on a range of issues including: welfare benefits, accessing social funds, letter writing, dealing with junk mail
- Foot Care Service, a basic toe nail cutting
- Home Help, a charged for home cleaning service
- Telephone Shopping, a charged for shopping service
